About

A framework for intentional parenting built from research and the stories of parents who refused to leave excellence to chance.

Why this exists

Most parenting advice focuses on one thing at a time. Confidence, or resilience, or screen time, or which activities to sign up for. Raised by Design started from a different question: what if you looked at the whole child, deliberately, the way you'd approach any project worth doing properly? What if you set out to raise an outstanding child — not an average one? Not through more classes, or more money, or more pressure. Through intention.

That question came from watching a pattern repeat itself, over and over, in very different families with very different resources.

The pattern

Richard Williams wrote a 78-page plan for his daughters before either of them had held a tennis racket. He had never played the game himself. He taught himself first, so he could teach them.

László Polgár declared, in writing, before his daughters were even born, that he would raise chess champions. All three became grandmasters.

Anthony Hamilton worked four jobs and mapped out a path to Formula 1 for his son before most people believed a British-Caribbean family from Stevenage had any business being there at all.

None of these are stories about talent showing up on its own. They're stories about parents who refused to leave things to chance — who built a structure, deliberately, before anyone else believed it would work.

What we noticed

The families who raise remarkable children rarely do it by accident. They do it because they had a plan — even an imperfect one — for who their child was becoming, not just what their child was achieving.

Most parents already have this instinct. What they don't have is the structure to act on it. And intentional parenting was never about access to exclusive clubs, elite tutors, or expensive activities — some of the most deliberately raised children in history came from families with almost nothing. What they had instead was a plan.

The research exists — decades of it, across psychology, education, and human development — but it's scattered across academic papers most people will never read, and it's never been translated into something a busy parent can actually use, week by week.

What we built instead

Raised by Design takes that research — validated frameworks in self-efficacy, non-cognitive skill development, narrative identity, and more — and turns it into something usable: a personalised plan across eight areas of development, built specifically around your child, with practices you can actually run at your own kitchen table.

It isn't a shortcut. It's the plan for the parent who already believes their child's future is something you can build.

What this isn't

This isn't a clinical tool. It's about giving intentional parents the same kind of structure that's quietly behind every one of the stories above — regardless of income, background, or where you're starting from. It's about using the evidence base to intentionally raise a child who knows who they are, lives by values they've actually chosen, walks into a room they've never been in before and holds their own. A child who speaks with their own voice, goes deep on the things that genuinely interest them, runs their own life a little more each year, keeps going when something is hard, and has stood in enough different worlds to know what's actually possible for them.

Excellence is never accidental. It's built.
